The Wages Protection System (WPS) is an initiative, by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation in association with the Central Bank of the UAE, to streamline salary disbursal across the UAE.

Employers are only allowed to choose authorized WPS agents like exchange houses, banks, etc., who have been approved by the Central Bank of UAE and MOHRE.

According to the Ministerial Decree No.788 of 2009 on Protecting Wages of UAE Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratisation, it is mandatory to adhere to WPS.

Failure to transfer wages by the deadline specified above will prevent institutions from obtaining new work permits / Renewal of Trade licenses. The lifting of this ban will happen only when the wages of workers have been transferred fully.

Yes, an agreement must be signed between GCC Exchange and the corporate entity you are using to obtain (Tankhwa) payroll services.

• The employer is required to pay their employees on time to avoid wage protection system (WPS) blocks.
• When the company is blocked for the first time, they have until the end of the month to pay the salaries required to lift the block.
• Otherwise, the employer must pay the WPS obligation for the block month.

• Failure to pay at least 90% of covered employees
• Not paying a minimum of 80% of each employee's salary
• Payment of wages after the due date
