Seven Tips for a Sound Sleep

Sleep is as vital as food for our body. Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. But unfortunately, many of us face sleeping issues. In the absence of a sound sleep, we feel irritated and lethargic, which makes it difficult to focus on our work.

To correct the sleep cycle, here are a few lifestyle changes that you should follow:

  1. Keep the mobile away from you at least an hour before sleep.

Looking at the mobile screen reduces the secretion of melatonin hormone, which makes the body drowsy and signals us to sleep. So, if you are carrying mobile phones to bed until you fall asleep, you are disturbing your sleep cycle. To avoid this, please avoid looking at your phone screen an hour before going to bed.

  • Wear loose clothes while sleeping.

Loose clothes ensure proper blood circulation and prepare the body for better sleep. You should remove your undergarments and put on a loose gown or loose T-Shirt and pyjama for sleeping. Proper blood circulation enhances sleep quality.

  • Sleep at a fixed time every day.

The body follows a biological clock, and to regulate it; you should go to bed at the same time daily. This will allow the brain to go into sleep mode automatically at a particular time every day.

  • Make your room dark.

Bright lights indicate the brain to be active, so an hour before sleeping keeps the bedroom lights dim.

  • Take a bath before sleep.

A calm and relaxed mind promotes sleep, so for this, you should also take a nice bath before going to bed.

  • Do not carry your work to the bedroom.

Many people have a habit of keeping their laptops and files or books in their bedroom so that they can work if they don’t feel sleepy. This practice keeps the mind engaged and disturbs the sleep cycle. So you should not carry work-related things to the bedroom.

  • Do not go to bed hungry.

Hunger doesn’t allow us to have a sound sleep. Even if you are too tired and fall asleep quickly, there is a possibility that you would wake up in between due to hunger. So, keep some snacks ready and have them if required.

Sleep is indispensable for everyone, but people tend to overlook its importance and keep trimming their sleep time for other things. However, this ignorance is costing them their health. You should have a good and healthy sleep to enjoy life to the fullest when you are awake.
