GCC Exchange Welcomes the Launch of the New Dh100 Banknote by the UAE Central Bank

Dubai, UAE – GCC Exchange is pleased to announce that the UAE Central Bank (CBUAE) has introduced a new Dh100 banknote just in time for the Eid Al Fitr celebrations. This latest addition to the national currency is made of polymer and incorporates cutting-edge designs with enhanced security features.

As part of the CBUAE’s Third Issuance of the National Currency Project, the new Dh100 banknote reflects the UAE’s rich heritage and future aspirations. The front of the note showcases the historic Umm Al Quwain National Fort, a symbol of the country’s cultural legacy, while the reverse side features the Port of Fujairah. Additionally, the note highlights the significance of Etihad Rail, the railway network that connects all seven Emirates and extends to the GCC region.

Designed with various shades of red, the new banknote retains the colour characteristics of the existing Dh100 note to ensure easy public recognition. GCC Exchange is committed to facilitating a smooth transition and has taken all necessary measures to integrate the new banknotes into our operations. Starting from March 24, the new Dh100 banknote will be circulated alongside the existing ones, with full legal value guaranteed by the UAE Central Bank.

Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the CBUAE, emphasized that this issuance aligns with the country’s sustainability vision and financial competitiveness. “The new 100 dirham banknote reflects our commitment to the leadership’s vision for a sustainable future through initiatives and achievements that support Net Zero and enhance the nation’s financial competitiveness. Its design embodies the country’s ambitious aspirations for future progress and prosperity while honoring its historical and cultural heritage,” he stated.

The new banknote also features advanced security elements and is designed to be more durable and sustainable than traditional paper banknotes, lasting at least twice as long in circulation. Furthermore, in consideration of all users, the CBUAE has included Braille symbols to assist visually impaired individuals in identifying the note’s value.

Notably, the CBUAE has recently been recognized for its innovation in currency design, winning the ‘Best New Banknote’ award at the 2023 and 2025 High-Security Printing EMEA conference for its Dh500 and Dh1,000 polymer banknotes.

At GCC Exchange, we are dedicated to providing seamless financial services while embracing the latest advancements in currency circulation. We welcome this new issuance and assure our customers that our branches are fully equipped to handle the new Dh100 banknote with ease and efficiency.
